The Sorocaba College of Engineering team is the Formula SAE champion
The Sorocaba College of Engineering (Facens) V8 team was the 4th Formula SAE Brazil – Petrobras – Competition champion, which was wrapped up on November 11 2007, at the Goodyear Testing Range, in Americana, SP. The team, from the interior of the State of São Paulo, added up 792.47 points. The runner up was the Formula FEI team, from the FEI University Center, from São Bernardo do Campo, with 651.53 points.
“This was a result our entire team had been pursuing for three years,” said driver Daniel Henrique Duo Ricardo, a Facens Mechanical Engineering student, who looked back at the team’s two runner-up positions in 2005 and 2006. With this year’s victory, the V8 team earned the right to represent Brazil in the Formula SAE, scheduled for May 2008, in Michigan, USA, and organized by SAE International.
The FEI Formula team may represent Brazil in the Formula SAE West, scheduled for June 2008, in California, United States. The 4th Formula SAE Brazil – Petrobras – Competition ranked the Solid Edge EESC-USP team, from USP’s São Carlos School of Engineering, as the third place, and Universidade Paulista’s Unip Formula team as the fourth. The fifth place was the Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UFRJ) Ícarus team.
