Men’s Olympic Team
Brazil’s handball team debuted in the Olympic games in Barcelona, Spain, in 1992. The men’s team, the runner-up in the Havana Pan American Games (1991), earned its place in the Olympics after Cuba withdrew from the event. Brazil finished in 12th place.
The situation repeated four years later. Cuba, the champion in the Mar Del Plata Pan American games, in Argentina (1995), granted its place in the Atlanta Olympics, in the United States (1996), to Brazil’s Men’s Team, which finished the tournament in 11th place.
Brazil earned the right to play in the Athens games (2004) independently. The two teams classified for the games for first time that year. The men’s team finished in 10th place.
In 2007, the Men’s National Team won the gold medal in the Rio de Janeiro Pan-American Games.
