In late April 2007, there was a total of 318 exploratory concessions, 36 of which acquired in Bid Rounds 0 (Zero - 1999) to 4 (2002), and 282 (cells) in Bids 5 (2003) to 7 (2006). The 282 blocks (cells) involved in Bids 5 to 7 were later grouped by the National Petroleum Agency (NPA) into 82 agreement blocks, which added to the 36 blocks from Bids 0 (Zero) to 4, totaled 118 agreement blocks.

In addition to the above-mentioned blocks, there are also 21 blocks (cells) acquired in Bid 8 (2006) that are "sub judice," since the auction was interrupted judicially and, thus, have not yet been grouped into agreement blocks.

Of the total 339 exploratory concessions, 186 are operated exclusively by Petrobras, while 153 in partnerships. Of the concessions in partnerships, Petrobras is the operator for 78 and non-operator in the remaining 75 blocks. The concessions are distributed onshore (136), in shallow waters (84), and in deep and ultra-deep waters (119), in a total exploratory area encompassing some 151,000 square kilometers.

Of the total 306 concessions in production, 283 are operated exclusively by Petrobras, while 23 in partnerships. Of the concessions in partnership, the company is the operator in 12 and non-operator in the remaining 11 blocks. In 2006, Petrobras' reserves topped-out at 13.75 billion barrels of oil and gas equivalent (boe), with a daily production of 1.778 million bpd of oil and LNG, in addition to 44 million m3 of natural gas.
