The 2006 Social & Environmental Balance is the world’s best
Petrobras' Social & Environmental Balance was elected the best in the Civil Society and All Stakeholders categories in an award organized by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the main international reference in sustainability report preparation guidelines.
The ranking was announced during the Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency. In total, 800 reports from 50 countries competed for the awards.
Readers from 70 countries voted over the Internet on the reports they considered the most complete per audience category: civil society, financial markets, media, and employees. The All Stakeholders category is the sum of the votes cast for these four groups.
Forty-five reports remained in the last stage of the competition, eight of which from Brazilian companies. Only Petrobras was awarded among the Brazilian corporations.
Recognition
For two years in a row (2005 and 2006), Petrobras' Social & Environmental Balance was considered an outstanding report by the Global Compact and has been named a global benchmark in several international workshops.
