Exploration & Production

Activities in this sector are currently concentrated in the San Alberto and San Antonio blocks, in the Tarija department. This segment, under the responsibility of Petrobras Bolivia S.A. (PEB), explores, produces and markets hydrocarbons in oil blocks, both independently and in partnership with other companies. PEB holds 35% participation in the San Alberto and San Antonio blocks, together with Total E&P Bolivie (15%) and Empresa Petrolera Andina S.A. (50%). In both blocks, in addition to being a partner, the company also performs as the operator.

PEB’s participation in the Río Hondo block, located in the La Paz, Beni, and Cochabamba departments is 50%; while TOTAL E&P Bolivie holds the remaining 50%. Additionally, the company holds 20% participation in the Monteagudo block (Chuquisaca department), and 100% in the Ingre block (also in Chuquisaca).

Currently, its main gas & condensate production fields – San Alberto and San Antonio –, despite their specific characteristics, have basically the same types of production facilities.

Each of these two blocks has gas and condensate producer wells and collection and transportation lines. They also include treatment plants which not only process the gas and the condensate, but also perform the adaptations that are required to ensure trade and transportation conditions for the products.

In addition to specific production facilities, the blocks also have cafeterias, offices, and living quarters. Employees work in shifts.

The Exploration & Production (E&P) segment is certified under the ISO 14001 environmental management norms, and OHSAS 18001 safety & occupational health norms.
