Petrobras and the Performing Arts

Petrobras’ sponsorship for this segment is present in show production and circulation; in company maintenance; in the biggest and most important theater, dance, and circus festivals nationwide; in organizing and recovering important collections; in actions aimed at qualifying new professionals and forming new audiences, such as the “Nós do Morro” and “Dançando pra não dançar” projects (the latter sponsored by Petrobras Distribuidora); and in performing art dissemination initiatives over the Internet.

Petrobras’ action in this segment is articulated with Funarte in the Myriam Muniz (theater), Klauss Vianna (dance), and Carequinha (circus) awards, in public circulation notices, and in the support given to the National Circus School.

Petrobras’ main Continuity projects are the “Grupo Corpo,” “Grupo Galpão,” “Cia Deborah Colker” (sponsored by Petrobras Distribuidora), “Teatro Oficina,” and the “Cia de Dança Ivaldo Bertazzo.” Additionally, Petrobras currently sponsors another 15 companies of excellence. As of its 2006/2007 edition, the Petrobras Cultural Program opens public selections for theater and dance company maintenance all over Brazil, boosting the regional distribution of performing art sponsorship resources. In this edition, the Program also debuts public selection for projects aimed at education for the arts and inclusive cultural presentations which, naturally, opens space for the sponsorship of shows coming from social projects nationwide.
