Henrique Rodovalho’s show left the electronic and percussion music atmosphere, which had characterized the company's shows in the past few years, behind to embrace the sophisticated lyricism of the Elis e Tom album, recorded in 1974. The album has 13 tracks that represent some of the best Brazilian Popular Music tunes, including Triste, Modinha, Por toda a minha vida, Corcovado, Retrato em Branco e Preto, Pois é, Chovendo na Roseira, O que tinha de ser, Brigas nunca mais, Inútil paisagem, Soneto da Separação, and Águas de Março, which are a few of the tracks that are part of the project.
The challenge of choreographing songs that represent the Brazilian heritage, live and vivid in the voice of two masters, was not a simple one. Responsibility was even bigger because it is a classic. The company is trying to bring-on a third type of emotion with this work. Emotions are not only in the music or choreography, rather this product blends the two.
