Since 2004, the Petrobras Cultural Program has been opening public selections for the preservation of museological, documental, and bibliographic collections belonging to museums; public archives; private archives, as long as of public interest and open to the public; and libraries, as long as open to the public and holding rare work or collections considered of extraordinary value from the historical and cultural viewpoint.
Other important sponsorships for institutions that safeguard the Brazilian history and cultural memory are the Xingó Archeological Museum, in Sergipe; the Capivara Mountain National Park, in Piauí; the Afro Brasil Museum, the Portuguese Language Museum, and the Mindlin Library, in São Paulo; and the Arts and Crafts Museum, in Belo Horizonte, among others.
In its 2006/2007 Edition, the Petrobras Cultural Program supports, as a guest project, IPHAN’s Museum Safety Program. In this edition, the Petrobras Cultural Program also debuts public selection for projects aimed at education for the arts, which will certainly open new sponsorship opportunities for museums, archives, and libraries.
