Petrobras’ sponsorship for this segment is currently focused on contemporaneous Brazilian popular and erudite music recording and circulation, actions which, since 2004, have been the object of public project selection in the ambit of the Petrobras Cultural Program and have been producing excellent CDs that illustrate the great diversity of the current musical production in Brazil.
Another important focal point is the action related to Memory: Petrobras has been helping recover and organize important collections, such as those of Tom Jobim, Radamés Gnatalli and Francisco Mignone, and assisting the registration of musical manifestations which, although not under the market’s spotlights, have, in and of themselves, collection value for their representativeness, uniqueness, and live connection to Brazil’s musical past.
Among the Continuity sponsorships, the highlight is the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra, one of the first to be sponsored by company, back in the 1980’s, and the retaking of the Funarte Pixinguinha project, which circulates Brazilian musical production in all of the country’s regions. In this segment, Petrobras also sponsors several music dissemination initiatives, as well as actions to qualify new professionals and form new audiences, such as the Raphael Rabello Choro School (DF), the Vigário Geral Afroreggae qualification bands, and the Felipe Camarão fiddle factory, in the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro and Natal/RN, respectively. As of its 2006/2007 Edition, the Petrobras Cultural Program debuts public selection for projects aimed at education for the arts and inclusive cultural presentations, which, naturally, opens space for sponsorship to musical, concert, show, CD, DVD, etc., projects coming from social projects nationwide.
