Mostly through its research center and engineering department Petrobras has recently increased its investments in agreements and contracts signed with universities and research institutes.
The purpose of these measures is the joint development of research projects and the supply of services to fields that are of interest to the Company, one of which is the safeguarding of the environment.
The agreementss and contracts signed by Petrobras range from the development of fresh techniques and the engaging of technical services to the exchange of know-how on a trainee basis, courses and scholarships.

Purpose:To study and propose changes to the degassing vessels of Namorado 2 platform in the Campos Basin (RJ) oilfields for flotation treatment of oily water. |

Purpose:To develop passive techniques of monitoring the air in areas under the influence of Petrobras at the Recôncavo Baiano. |

Purpose: To survey and monitor bentonic fauna and flora along the rocky shores and sandy beaches close to the Ilha Grande Bay Terminal.

Purpose: To remedy underground water contaminated by gasoline.

UFRJ
Purpose: To develop and introduce the culture of aquatic organisms for use in tests for toxicity with petroleum products and wastes; to study the morphodynamics of beaches and the bottom of the sea adjoining the Rio de Janeiro coast; to study experiment of colonization of sterile sediments with beach fauna under both normal and impacted conditions.
