Petrobras' commitment to nature Petrobras' commitment to the environment goes beyond producing, refining, and distributing oil within the strictest safety standards. Pursuant to its Strategic Plan, the company also seeks excellence and leadership in the environmental area, causing it to increasingly take eco-efficiency into account in its operations. Eco-efficiency means producing more with the least possible impact on the environment. At Petrobras, this translates into an ongoing effort to make increased production compatible with the ever more rational use of natural inputs such as water and energy, and the generation of the least possible amounts of effluents and emissions in all of its units. Eco-efficiency also requires developing and disseminating the use of renewable energies, such as eolian, solar, and biomass energy, and creating devices to protect biodiversity. Both have been receiving increased attention from Petrobras, in consonance with its strategic commitment to environmental responsibility. |
