Transparency in the air

In a pioneering stance, Petrobras has deployed a computerized system to monitor all atmospheric emissions produced at its facilities in Brazil and in the other Latin American countries where it has operations. The system allows upwards of 20,000 different emissions sources to be followed-up on — including by the society —, also guiding the company's actions to contribute to reducing global heating (the greenhouse effect).

Previously, thanks to Petrobras, Brazil had already become one of the first countries in the world to completely remove tetraethyl lead from gasoline. The company has also been progressively removing sulfur from its products and, recently, launched Diesel 500, with 75% less sulfur content than conventional fuel, resulting in significant air quality improvements in the major cities.
