Reduce, reuse, recycle
Residues represent a waste of natural resources, economic loss, and environmental pollution. That is why Petrobras is committed to reducing residues to the maximum possible extent and to prioritizing processes that allow reuse and recycling, all within the best management practices.
With this in mind, Petrobras is deploying a computerized system that brings all data regarding the residues that result from its activities together. The system classifies the materials based on their hazard levels, registering the amounts produced, treated, recycled, reused or stored.
All of the Company's units are currently adopting Solid Residue Management Plans (SRMPs), over and beyond already practicing selective non-industrial garbage collection for recycling. So far as products are concerned, Petrobras is also implementing several asphalt, lubricant oil, and lubricant oil package recycling programs.
