LEAR's MACAW Latin name: Anordorhyncus leari (Bonaparte) Length: 71 cm Voice (on flight): aara-aara Very rare; during a number of years it was not found in nature. In 1978, it was located in Raso da Catarina, northeast of Bahia, the only macaw species found in that region. It lives in caves on the steepest rocks of canyons. Its favourite food: nuts of the uricuri syagrus palm. Part of its ecological area is within the Raso-da-Catarina Ecological Station. |
