Care in the Exploration

Exploration is the starting point of the oil business. Work performed in the field for this purpose , consisting mainly of seismographic surveys, hardly interferes with the surrounding nature.

Teams engaged in exploration works spend many days in the open sea, in backlands and even in forests, exposed to hostile environments, bound for places difficult to reach, while at the same time trying not to disturb the wild-life.

Petrobras prospecting done in Brazilian sedimentary basins is monitored under arrangements made with scientific organizations which ensure that environmental projects are made to apply and enable man and nature to co-exist peacefully.

In the Amazon, for instance, covenants were agreed upon with the Federal University of Amazonas (UFA) and the Amazon Research Institute (INPA) aimed at securing resources to prevent any prospecting for oil and gas to interfere with the environment.
