Offshore Precautions

Objectives

The main objective of this Emergency Plan is to attend cases of environmental pollution caused by oil and/or byproduct spills in Guanabara Bay. The Plan intends to structure the cooperation of all member companies and public authorities that can operate in planning and performing anti-spill operations, by using trained personnel and specific equipment to minimize any possible harm to the population and environment, reducing the operating costs involved.

2.1 Scope of Plan

The plan is regional in scope (Level 2) and shall be put into action whenever the capacity of each member for individual assistance (Level 1) proves inadequate to control the size of the spill. The plan will also attend spills that require immediate intervention even when they have not been caused by any of its members or whose responsibility cannot be attributed to them.
