Use well - use forever

Petroleum and natural gas are sources of non-renewable energy, but it is hard to imagine that one day we will have to substitute them for other cheaper and more practical energies. Today more than half the world's energy consumption comes from oil and natural gas.
By presidential decree in 1991 the federal government instituted the National Program for Rationing the Use of Oil and Natural Gas Byproducts (Conpet), in order to encourage efficient use of these resources, adopting the guidelines of the National Program for Rationing the Production and Use of Energy adopted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Petrobras, as stated in the decree which created the Program, is responsible for providing administrative, financial and technical support through the start up of the Program's Executive Office.

The projects developed by Conpet to optimize the use of fuel in the main consumer sectors in Brazil, and the informative actions for the public in order to disseminate an anti-waste culture, have brought remarkable results in fuel saving and a reduction in toxic gas emissions.
Petrobras reinforces its commitment to society's well-being and sustainable development of Brazil by supporting the projects of Conpet to save on energy and contribute towards protecting the environment.
All administrative and technical back-up for the program is provided by Petrobras, which has always given its unflagging support and resources to ensure the on-going success of the project.
