 THE PETROSIX PROCESS
The primary characteristic of the Petrobras technology is that it is easy to operate. After open-cut mining, the shale goes to the grinder to reduce the size of the stones that vary between 6 and 70 millimeters. These stones are then taken to a retort, where they are heated (cooked) at a temperature of approximately 500 degrees Centigrade, whereupon the organic matter in them is released in the form of oil and gas.
