Petrobras is undertaking several projects in different areas in order to adapt its business strategy to the current oil, gas and energy industry scenario in the markets at home and abroad.
To do so, the company has a corporate area for developing new businesses, whose the policies are as follows:

to consider mergers, takeovers and asset exchange as options for accelerating growth, and facilitating new business;

to use partnerships to leverage a market position, dilute risks, and attract investments; and

prioritize segments that strengthen the integration and core business of the company.
The purpose of the main actions in the New Business area is to help the company:

consolidate competitive edges on the home market of petroleum and byproducts;

stay ahead in the Brazilian natural gas market, and act in the energy market on an integrated basis; and

expand its international operations.
