Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), more commonly known as "cooking gas", is usually sold as bottled liquid gas, becoming a gas when exposed to atmospheric pressure and room temperature when used in a stove. As it is naturally an odorless product, a sulfur-based compound is added to give it an easy-to-detect strong characteristic smell should a leak occur. Part of the LPG is used in the glass, ceramic and food industries.
