Petrobras serves most of the diesel fuel demand in Brazil, whether with its own production or with imports. The Brazilian consumption is basically limited to the transportation sector, mainly road travel.

Concerned with attending to its customers’ needs, with ensuring the best engine performance, and with reducing the atmospheric emissions levels, Petrobras implanted the Diesel Fuel Quality Evolution Program. The initiative resulted in a significant reduction in the emissions of sulfur compounds, particulate materials, and odors, over and beyond in the improvement of the diesel fuel quality.

Since 1994, Petrobras has produced two types of diesel – the metropolitan and the interior. The metropolitan, with lower sulfur content, is consumed in regions that need a fuel with lower particulate material emissions levels and which produces environmental gains. The interior diesel is consumed in the Country’s remaining regions. Within these two types there are also the following sub-types: Additized diesel fuel and Winter Diesel.

This product attends to the National Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuel Agency (NPA) specifications, which are unique to the Brazilian market and have different equivalencies for the other countries.
