Maritime diesel fuel is characterized by the fact that its flash point occurs at the minimum value of 600oC, while automotive diesel fuel (Metropolitan and Interior) has a minimum value of 38oC for this same property. Maritime diesel fuel has a maximum sulfur content of 1.0% (10000 ppm). It is intended for small and mid-sized vessels and for auxiliary engines used in large vessels.
