Asphalt is one of the oldest materials used by mankind. Since Mesopotamia, and even in ancient Rome, it was used to build roads and to seal vessels. It is currently used in paving services. Asphalt offers, compared to other paving products, more economy, durability, and it is easy and fast to apply.
There are different types of asphalt – agglutinating materials, dark in color, solid, semi-solid, and even liquid – obtained through a distillation process. Petrobras markets these products via distributors. A small amount is sold directly to the end customers.
Check out the different asphaltic products:
- Petroleum Asphaltic Cement (PAC): direct use in building asphaltic coatings.
- Diluted Petroleum Asphalts (DPA): also known as cut-back asphalts.
- Rejuvenescent Agent: regenerates old and oxidated asphalt.
- Recycling Emulsion: allows up to 100% of the old, milled mixes to be recycled.
- Antidust Agent: applied to unpaved roads, it works as a waterproofing agent.
- Pot Hole Coverer: ideal to repair asphaltic pavements in the case of small urban construction work involving water, gas, sewer and electricity.
- Crack Sealant: this product fills and waterproofs cracks, keeping water from seeping into the asphalt.

This product attends to the National Petroleum Agency (NPA) specifications, which are unique to the Brazilian market and have different equivalencies for the other countries.
