Development of the Jubarte field

The Jubarte field was discovered in January 2001, as a result of drilling of the 1-ESS-100 well in Block BC-60, at a water depth of 1,185 to 1,365 meters and at about 77 Km off the shore. Block BC-60 is located in the northern portion of the Campos Basin, off the southern coast of the State of Espírito Santo.

Aiming at collecting data to elaborate the field development project, in December 2001 Petrobras requested from the ANP (the National Oil Association) a license to carry out a long-term test (LTT). In July 2002, the ANP approved the LTT and in October, with the installation of the FPSO Seillean, testing was started.

Petrobras declared the commercial viability of the Jubarte field on December 11 2002, commencing the production pilot.

The pilot, that involves production through the pilot well and the FPSO Seillean, has the same objectives as the LTT, i.e., collecting more data for the studies that are starting to be developed.

Up to January 11th, 2006 the well ESS-110HPA produced for the FPSO Seillean, with an average flow of 20 thousand barrels a day.

Initial Phase 1 production began in the second half of 2006 with FPSO P-34, with a processing capacity of up to 60,000 barrels of oil per day.

Production for Phase 2 is expected to begin in 2011 via FPSO P-57, which is capable of processing 180,000 barrels of oil per day and 300,000 barrels of liquids per day. A total of 15 producing wells and 7 injection wells are foreseen for this phase.

Development of the Cachalote, Baleia Franca, and Baleia Anã fields

The Cachalote Field was discovered in November 2002 as a result of drilling well ESS-116 at a water depth of 1,478 m and some 10 km away from the newly-discovered Jubarte Field. The Baleia Franca field, meanwhile, was discovered in 2003 via well 1-ESS-119, and the Baleia Anã field in 2003 via well 1-ESS-122. All of them are located at an average water depth of 1,400 m and are about 80 km away from the southern coast of Espírito Santo.

Seeking to collect data to prepare the development project for the Cachalote field, in October 2008, Petrobras will begin a Production Pilot at the Cachalote Field with the installation of FPSO Seillean. The Pilot is expected to list six months.

Phase 1 is slated to begin in 2010, and will count on the initial development of the Cachalote and Baleia Franca fields.

Phase 2, foreseen for 2015, will count on the complementary development of the Cachalote and Baleia Franca fields, and on the development of the Baleia Anã field.
